As a Private Reserve. Morgan´s Rock is frequented year-round by two species of endangered turtles and Morgan’s Rock, is proud to support sea turtle conservation efforts. Guests, are grateful for the unique opportunity to witness sea turtles nesting and hatching in their natural environment and frequently state that this as one of the most memorable experiences of their stay at the hacienda. |
The abundant wildlife at Morgan’s Rock convinces visitors to return again and again. The unique natural setting offers guests the opportunity to feel immersed in the nature around them. Children and adults alike are delighted to discover exotic animals such as monkeys, sea turtles, colorful birds, anteaters, sloths, iguanas, dolphins, and more. The accommodations are just a small portion of the property, the rest being mostly untouched Reserve and estuary. Guests are encouraged to explore the property via kayak, vehicle, bicycle, horse, and on foot, almost always encountering some exotic species along the way. Excursions with an experienced guide and naturalist are all the more enriching, drawing on the guide’s vast knowledge of the area and its inhabitants. |
Morgan’s Rock offers the perfect family getaway. At the lodge, and in the surrounding 4,000 acres of protected undeveloped forest land including a private reserve, families can bond, play, and discover endlessly. The waters of the private beach are protected by a small extension of coastline. This shields the cove from high winds and makes for waves that are generally calm enough for children to play in safely. Parents can relax without worry in a lounge chair or hammock under a shady thatched awning on the beach while watching their kids boogie board, swim, surf, or build sand castles in the sun. With only fifteen bungalows and over a mile of sandy beach line, there’s plenty of space for kids to roam within eye-sight. |

THREE BEDROOM BEACH HOUSE is what the Swiss Family Robinson would have done if Nicaraguan Craftsman’s had been on hand to oversee construction. Hidden in sight from the beach, the Family house is tucked in on a small hill behind the tamarind trees on the beach. It bears built witness to many of the iconic ideas that were later developed into the unique architecture of the Morgan’s Rock Hotel. Each of the phases of building since 1995 have explored the balance between creating wonderful spaces for family vacations whilst maintaining careful equilibrium with the privileged surroundings. |
CULINARY EXPERIENCE Guests are in for a treat when they dine at Morgan´s Rock – whether at the lovely restaurant overlooking the ocean, or over a hearty breakfast of handmade tortillas and gallo pinto (rice and beans) down at the farmhouse. Thanks to a large working farm with cows, chickens, fruit and vegetable gardens, and even a sustainable shrimp farm, Morgan’s Rock sources roughly 60% of its food products from the premises. Guests are welcome to visit the farm, where they can lend a hand collecting eggs or milking the cows, or simply kick back and enjoy a rustic breakfast cooked on the hearth by the lovely Denia. Participants in this activity will even learn how to make delicious homemade tortillas! |
