Hotel Las Tortugas is a small ecotouristic beach front hotel, located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Playa Grande has been one of the world’s principal nesting beaches for the Giant Leatherback Sea Turtle. Louis Wilson, the founder of Hotel Las Tortugas, was instrumental in preserving Playa Grande as one of the world’s last functioning, healthy nesting areas for this now highly-endangered species.

The owners designed and built the hotel themselves and all eleven rooms have A/C and private bathrooms with hot water.
The hotel also offers economy rancho rooms on the property for the traveler on a budget. The rancho rooms all have their own private hotwater baths and air-conditioning and range from $25 to $55 per night. |
There’s a jacuzzi, swimming pool, outside shower (great for rinsing off after stumbling up off the beach), and a palmfrond rancho with hammocks–all just steps from the sand.
The laid back atmosphere makes Las Tortugas a family paradise. There is a telephone for local and long distance calls, in addition to fax service. |
