Tortuguero One Day Tour
Tour Description:
You will be picked up early in the morning at your hotel in San Jose by a bilingual naturalist guide for the pleasant journey to Tortuguero National Park. After a scenic drive through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, there will be a stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast (juice, coffee, eggs, and the popular “Gallo Pinto”), at a restaurant in the town of Guápiles. After breakfast, we'll continue to a BANANA PLANTATION, where your guide will explain the process of growing and exporting the fruit. Afterwards, you’ll continue towards the embarcation dock, where you’ll start the most exciting part of the tour: the boat trip into the jungle of the TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK. Covering 29,000 hectares. TORTUGUERO IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT NESTING SITES OF CHELONIA MIDAS, the green sea turtle, whereas its forests and waterways are home to endangered mammals such as sloths, monkeys, agoutis, coatimundis and manatees. There are also abundant birds, such as toucans, trogons, egrets, herons and aninghas, as well as crocodiles, turtles and countless colorful butterflies, including the blue morpho. There will be a brief stop to enjoy a hearty typical buffet lunch after which there’ll be a guided walk through the Village of Tortuguero where you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the town and its inhabitants. |
