TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK / ARENAL VOLCANO / MONTEVERDE CLOUD FOREST RESERVE
Days 2 and 3 - TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK Early morning pick up at your hotel for 3 hour overland drive to the Cano Blanco dock in the Limon area. Upon arrival, board a boat for the approx 1,5 hour boat ride to Tortuguero. The canals of Tortuguero provide refuge for many animals and birds and along the ride to Tortuguero and you will have to opportunity to see many of these. Late afternoon arrival to Tortuguero and check in at your lodge on a full board basis. (B, L, D)..... |

Day 4 - TORTUGUERO / ARENAL
After an early breakfast at the hotel, depart on a 1 ½ hour boat transfer to the Cano Blanco area where you’ll continue by ground transportation to Rio Danta Restaurant. After lunch, you will be picked up for transfer to the Arenal Volcano area and check in at your hotel (B, L) Days 5, 6 - ARENAL Visit the Arenal hanging bridges. This project consists of eight fixed bridges, ranging in length between 8 and 22 meters, and six hanging bridges, built with the latest techniques and designed with an eye for beauty and safety. The hanging bridges are between 48 and 98 meters long. All bridges are made of galvanized steel and high-strength aluminium. The safety mesh and the suspension cables are made of galvanized steel. The entire project was designed to blend with the natural environment, leaving the forest virtually in tact. The trails covering a distance of about 3,1 kilometers, are right inside the forest. As you walk, you can appreciate a great diversity of flowers and wildlife that are typical of the rain forest as well as some imposing views of the volcano (weather permitting)... |

Day 7 - MONTEVERDE
After breakfast and optional morning hike, you will be picked up at the hotel for Jeep/Boat/Jeep transfer across Lake Arenal to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Monteverde is a peaceful community made up of dairy farmers, naturalists and tourism service providers who have joined together to create a model for sustainable development and protection of the environment that is becoming known throughout the world. Founded in 1954 by a group of Quakers searching for a peaceful place to live, it is the home of Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, the Children’s Eternal Forest and the Santa Elena Reserve... Day 8 - MONTEVERDE Breakfast at the hotel, then you will be picked up for guided visit to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Originally just 4000 acres, the Monteverde Reserve now includes a protected area of approx 25 000 acres, comprising six different life zones. So many habitats in such a small area, along with extensive trail improvements, allow visitors to enjoy a rich diversity of flora and fauna with relatively little and easy walking... (B) Day 9 SAN JOSE After breakfast you will be picked up at the hotel for transfer back to San Jose and last chance to experience San Jose’s very lively nightlife or enjoy dinner at one of the many fine restaurants (B) Day 10 - RETURN HOME |
