On our way to the Arenal Volcano, we will make a stop in Sarchí, a town celebrated as the heart of Costa Rican craftsmanship. In Sarchí, you’ll explore vibrant artisanal crafts and souvenirs, including the renowned world’s largest ox cart, which stands two stories high, spans nearly 45 feet, and weighs 2 tons. This stunning cart, intricately painted and crafted from cedar, epitomizes Costa Rican tradition.
Our journey continues through scenic agricultural landscapes, including pineapple and plantain farms, mango groves, and cattle ranches, before arriving in the charming town of La Fortuna. Enjoy a delightful lunch at a cozy restaurant with panoramic views of the Arenal Volcano.
The Arenal Volcano, an iconic natural landmark situated in La Fortuna (The Fortune) of San Carlos, was once thought dormant until its significant eruption in 1968. After lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to unwind at Ecotermales Hot Springs, where you can indulge in the therapeutic benefits of the thermal waters. Optional spa treatments, including massages, can be booked in advance for an extra touch of relaxation. Spa services are not included in the tour price and must be arranged directly with the resort.
Ecotermales Hot Springs elegantly combines the four elements of nature: the volcanic heat, flowing hot springs, pure rainforest air, and fertile earth of the Fortuna region.
To conclude the day, enjoy a delightful dinner with stunning views of the volcano before returning to your hotel in San José.
