Embark on a private adventure to Rio Celeste National Park, a breathtaking 1.5-hour drive from Arenal Volcano, passing through scenic rural villages. Located near the Tenorio Volcano and Miravalles Volcano, Rio Celeste is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after hiking destinations in Costa Rica.
Once we arrive at Tenorio National Park, begin your guided hike through the dense tropical rainforest. Along the way, our experienced nature guide will point out fascinating plants, wildlife, and interesting facts about the rainforest ecosystem. Feel free to go at your own pace as you immerse yourself in the natural beauty surrounding you.
Your hike will bring you to Los Tenideros, the point where two rivers converge. Here, you’ll witness the incredible turquoise blue water of the Rio Celeste waterfall. Local Maleku indigenous legends say the sky's blue color was dipped into the river by God, giving the water its stunning hue. Scientifically, the blue color is caused by the interaction of minerals--aluminum, silicon, and oxygen—which refract sunlight and create the mesmerizing effect.

After your hike, enjoy a delicious Costa Rican lunch at a local restaurant before we transport you back to La Fortuna in a comfortable van. This moderate hike takes around 1.5 to 2 hours (approximately 6 km or 3 miles), making it a perfect option for nature enthusiasts and families alike.

- Swimming is not allowed in the river for safety reasons.
- Weather conditions can affect the blue color of the waterfall, especially during rainstorms. We offer the option to reschedule or choose a different tour if necessary, but please note that no refunds are given for inclement weather.
