ITINERARY
DAY 1: SAN JOSE Arrival in San Jose’s Juan Santamaria International Airport, where our driver will be waiting for you to transport you to the award-winning DoubleTree by Hilton Cariari hotel. Rest up to prep for tomorrow’s adventures or have a traditional dinner at one of the restaurants in the area. DAY 2: SAN JOSE / POAS VOLCANO / LA PAZ WATERFALL / ARENAL VOLCANO After an early breakfast our driver will pick you up for drive to Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens for tour and lunch. U.S. News & World Report ranked this nature park among Costa Rica’s top attractions. Its residents include butterflies, jaguars, and other rare wildlife. Afterwards, continue the drive north towards Costa Rica’s Northern Plains and the awe inspiring Arenal Volcano to your Hotel: Volcano Lodge, Hotel & Thermal Experience and Escape to the exclusive thermal hot springs of Volcano Lodge, Hotel & Thermal Experience – a hidden gem in La Fortuna near the Arenal Volcano. Unlike the crowded public springs in the area, our mineral-rich thermal pools are reserved only for hotel guests, offering a serene, intimate experience surrounded by lush tropical gardens and cascading waterfalls. Relax in two distinct hot spring areas: One nestled beside the cold-water swimming pool for a refreshing contrast. Another tucked away in a more social setting, featuring a swim-up bar, soft music, ambient lighting, and private soaking pools of varying temperatures. Whether you’re seeking peace and solitude or a romantic spot to unwind, Volcano Lodge offers the best of Costa Rica’s hot spring experiences — minus the crowds. Meals included: B, L DAY 3: ARENAL VOLCANO After early morning coffee and breakfast, you’ll break camp and head down river. Morning is a wonderful time for birdwatching around camp, especially toucans. You’ll never forget rapids like: Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montañas, Terciopelo, Double Drop…one after the next until take out. Depending on the weather, the river level, and the group’s interest, you’ll take time to explore side creeks, catch some “rays” and enjoy world class whitewater. You will make it to the take-out by by mid-afternoon to de-rig the rafts, and head to a private take-out where showers and cold drinks are available. The drive back to San José is through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, offering tremendous rain forest, cloud forest and mountain views. You can plan to be back in your hotel in San Jose between 5 and 6 p.m. Overnite at Hotel Wyndham San Jose Herradura (or similar) 5* Meals included: B, L DAY 4: MANUEL ANTONIO Shortly after breakfast we will pick you up at your hotel for drive to airport and 25 minute flight to Manuel Antonio. Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the country and the most popular, with locals and foreigners alike. The hilly evergreen forest providing natural shade from the tropical sun lines two gorgeous white sand beaches sloping to the gentle surf. Several trails lead through dense jungle growth to hidden sandy coves and magnificent lookouts over the ocean and beaches. Upon arriving we’ll have time for a Kayaking / Snorkeling tour then afternoon free to enjoy the area and beach. Overnite at Hotel San Bada (or similar) Meals included: B Day 5: MANUEL ANTONIO After breakfast, pick up at your hotel for Guided hike to Manuel Antonio National Park then afternoon Zip line tour.
