 Mahogany Park - San Mateo
"Canopy Tour"

Only an hour and 20 minutes from San Jose is Mahogany Park, aptly named because of the large quantity of Mahogany trees growing on the property. This and other rare hardwood species are abundant here due to the fact that this area has been protected since the early 1900's when the landowners set most of it aside as a private reserve. At the reception area expert guides will outfit you with harnesses and other equipment. The "Canopy Tour" itself is situated in the primary jungle area only a 10 minute hike from the tourist center and consists of nine platforms and 8 traverses. The climate at Mahogany Park is very warm and usually humid. This is a tropical transition forest between the dry lowland forests of the north and the wet rain forests of the south and is therefore rich in biodiversity, both plants and animals. Shorts and t-shirts are recommended as well as a change of clothes. Tour duration approx. 3 1/2 hours.

Cost: $75.00 per person, includes round trip transportation, lunch, and "Canopy Tour"
Mountain Biking ExtensionThis is exactly the same itinerary as above, with the addition of a mountain biking tour option which you'll do first upon arrival at the park, instead of going straight to the "Canopy Tour". The mountain bike trails are for intermediate to advanced level riders and are considered "challenging" by both groups. The bike tour lasts about 1 1/2 hours and includes refreshments and energy snacks. Following the bike tour will be the "Canopy Tour"

Cost: $145.00 per person, includes includes round trip transportation, lunch, Mountain Bike tour and "Canopy Tour"

*** Min 6 persons required for mountain biking extension
